Is naming your children after celebs unfair?

I reckon naming kids after celebs/famous/infamous people is a bit unfair. In a world where it's hard enough to make a name for yourself you don't want to be competing against someone else who had the name a year, decade, or even a century before you.

If I have a child and name him Robert Frost and he becomes a poet too then he would have a HUGE hard time of it.

And naming the kids after dead celebs....that is a bit freaky to me because it feels almost cursed ha ha.

What do you guys think?

I think rapper's kids have the most ridiculous names of them all!!

North West --Kanye/Kim
Royalty--Chris Brown
Messiah Ya'Majesty--T.I.
King Cairo--Tyga/Blac China
Cymphonique--Master P
Royal Reign--Lil' Kim

Come on!! Some of those are pretty obnoxious.

Imagine how it'd be for the kid. Miley Cyrus is a chosen name I think. I remember it from a trivia night I went to.

We need to add the latest Kardashian/West child .....  Saint West
And her sister Kourtney Kardashian's child.....Reign

Come on...pretty narcissistic and obnoxious. Of course, those are the exact words I would use to describe the parents, so...I guess it fits. I think naming a child 'Saint' is rather disrespectful.

Ugh, yes, and I am another who despises the silly names many celebrities paste on their offspring. How would you like to go through life with the name of Apple, Blanket, Saint, etc. I guess they're no worse than Moon Unit, though, so the stupid names are nothing new  ;P . To me, it shows how 'out there' many of the famous (or infamous) people are, and how much their lives and actions differ from the experiences of the rest of us.

naming children certainly has it's limits.

i used to know this family, who decided to name their children after US states

they certainly had a texas and a alaska (just picture that ). the kids playing in the garden and the mom calls.. come on texas, alaska, dinner time. so unfair on the kids and it encourages bullying

i used to know another kid who's name was, spider. (spelt like the itsy bitsy spider)

sad state of afairs really, but it makes me laugh all the same

smiling as i'm writing this
